# Connect Rithmic

Heron Copier connects to Rithmic futures accounts directly in the cloud. One Rithmic login covers every account under it, which includes most prop-firm logins such as Apex, Bulenox, Earn2Trade, and Tradeify, as well as brokerage logins on **Rithmic 01**. Rithmic accounts can be used as masters or slaves and copy to and from every other supported platform.

Rithmic accounts run in the cloud version only. There is nothing to install.

## What you need

* Your Rithmic username and password, the same ones you use to log in to R|Trader Pro.
* The name of your Rithmic system, for example **Apex**, **Bulenox**, or **Rithmic 01**. It is the **System** you pick on the R|Trader Pro login screen.
* API access on your login. Some prop firms and brokers must enable API (third-party application) access first; if the connection is refused with a permission error, ask them to enable it for your login.

You do not need a market data subscription. Heron Copier does not use Rithmic market data.

## Connect your login

1. In the [dashboard](https://dashboard.heroncopier.com), open **Cloud Accounts**, click **+**, and choose **Rithmic**.
2. Enter your Rithmic **username** and **password**, and choose your **system** from the list.
3. Click **Connect**. Heron Copier logs in once to check the credentials and lists every account under that login.
4. Pick the account to use as a master or a slave and continue with the usual [master](/config/master) or [slave](/config/slave) settings.

Repeat these steps for each separate Rithmic login. All accounts under one login are available after a single connection, so you can add several accounts of the same login without connecting it again.

### Agreements pending

Rithmic asks each login to accept its agreements once. If the connection says that agreements are pending, log in to **R|Trader Pro** with the same username, password, and system, sign the agreements it shows, log out, and click **Connect** again.

## What Heron Copier does with your credentials

* Your password is stored encrypted and is used only to log in to Rithmic for your copiers. It is never shown in the dashboard, in logs, or to the copier processes.
* Heron Copier keeps **one connection per Rithmic login**, shared by every account you add from that login.
* Heron Copier does **not** use Rithmic market data. Your market data session is untouched, so **R|Trader Pro can stay open** while your accounts are copying.
* Orders placed by the copier are marked as automated orders on Rithmic.
* To stop using a login, remove its accounts and the connection from the dashboard.

## Masters and slaves

* **Masters** follow the account's positions in real time and send every open, partial close, close, and TP/SL change to your slaves.
* **Slaves** copy in **whole contracts**. Calculated sizes are rounded to the nearest contract, and trades below half a contract are skipped.
* **Fixed Risk by Percentage** and **Fixed Risk by Nominal** size the trade from the stop-loss distance and the contract's point value (for example, 5 USD per point for `MES`), and round down to whole contracts.
* Auto Symbol Mapping, Additional TP/SL in Pips, TP Offset, and SL Offset are not available on Rithmic slaves.

## Symbols

Rithmic uses contract names such as `MESZ6` (Micro E-mini S\&P 500, December 2026). Masters publish the contract name, and slaves use the same contract unless you set an alias. An alias can be a full contract name or a bare product such as `MES`, which the copier resolves to the front-month contract, for example `US500=MES;NAS100=MNQ;` when copying from a CFD account.

Rithmic and Tradovate use the same contract names for CME products, so copying between them needs no aliases.

## Take profit and stop loss

With **Copy TP** or **Copy SL** enabled, the slave sends the entry together with the enabled protective orders as a bracket. Filling one side cancels the other. Modifying the master's levels moves the slave's take profit or stop loss; closing the master's position cancels the slave's protective orders before the slave is flattened.

## Prop-firm accounts

Prop firms set their own rules for copy trading, automated trading, and trading from servers. Check your firm's rules before connecting an evaluation or funded account, and make sure API access is enabled on your login. Heron Copier does not enforce your firm's rules for you.

## Troubleshooting

### Authentication failed

* Check the username and password by logging in to R|Trader Pro with them.
* Make sure the system you chose matches the **System** you use in R|Trader Pro. Prop-firm logins usually use the firm's own system (for example **Apex**), not **Rithmic 01**.
* If you changed your Rithmic password, connect the login again with the new password.

### Permission denied or session conflict

* **Permission denied** right away usually means API access is not enabled on your login. Ask your prop firm or broker to enable it, then connect again.
* Rithmic allows Heron Copier **one session per login**. Heron Copier shares it across all your accounts of that login, so do not connect the same login twice. If you see a session conflict after a login already worked, wait a minute: Heron Copier reconnects on its own. Contact support if it persists.

### R|Trader Pro logged me out

Heron Copier does not log in to Rithmic market data, so it should not log R|Trader Pro out. Another app on the same login that uses market data, such as a second charting platform, can. If R|Trader Pro logs out only while your Heron Copier accounts are running, contact support.
